Erysimum ‘Constant Cheer’ is a well-loved cottage garden favourite with colour changing blooms.
Erysimum are well known for their incredible long flowering period and the way in which they bring joyous colour to borders and pots. By late spring copious clusters of orange-red flowers have opened and continue to do so until late autumn. Each flower changes colour, through shades of pink and purple as it matures. The evergreen foliage becomes covered and is itself a feature when the blooms have faded during winter. Much loved by florists, erysimum are excellent as cut flowers for your home, lasting up to 10 days in a vase.
Much loved by bees, Constant Cheer is incredibly easy to grow, rabbit resistant and prefers well-drained soil in sun or part shade, growing to an approximate height of 60cm and spread of 40-50cm.
Erysimum are fully hardy perennials and will happily survive most winters outside, only needing protection during the very coldest of winters if the soil is not well-drained.
