Eranthis hyemalis is an AGM holding national favourite and one of the first to blooms to appear - lending zingy bursts sure to bring a smile to your face. An early source of food for bees and other pollinators emerging from their winter sleep, Eranthis hyemalis look fantastic planted to naturalise beneath trees and bushes. Aconites are a member of the buttercup family, originating from shady, woodland areas of Eurasia. Clump-forming winter aconites prefer moist, humus-rich soil in full sun to partial shade, reaching a height and spread of 10cm and needing little attention. Joyous planted in the flower border, used as under-planting within a cottage or informal scheme or tumbling over the edges of containers and walls.
