Tell Me More...
Fantastic shades of red-purple are accented by snowy-white tips when the strong stems of Epimedium ‘Red Maximum’ emerge and flower from March to May each year. A new hybrid form variety which comes from Belgium and is a cross between E. grandiflorum 'Freya' and E. membranaceum - developed by renowned breeder Koen Van Pouke. The heart-shaped foliage is borne from February to November and often has tints of red when it first emerges. Blooms are held on strong, wiry stems which gently sway and bob on spring breezes – adding animated interest. Plant your Epimedium ‘Red Maximum’ in a partially shaded spot which benefits from moist, well-drained soil of any type except clay. Ensure soil has an acidic or neutral pH for best results. A hardy herbaceous groundcover plant which will grow in a container as well as open ground, to around 20-40cm height and spread. Recognised by the RHS for its outstanding performance with their prestigious Award of Garden Merit.
