Tell Me More...
A new and exciting addition with unusual orange and copper tones. Epimedium 'Ellen Willmott' has intriguing leaves which emerge tinted red and then mature to a deeper shade of green. Foliage matures to form clumps of divided leaves which offer weed-suppressing groundcover as well as warming hues. In springtime, this woodland loving plant bears small, brightly coloured flowers with bright coppery-orange sepals and smaller pale yellow petals . Plants will thrive in both open ground and containers, with blooms making a great inclusion to a vase too.Native to Europe and Asia, where they grow best in dappled shade - at edge of woods or under trees and taller shrubs is perfect. A good quality, well-drained soil that does not completely dry out is best, as although many varieties will tolerate dry shade, these are not optimum conditions. Fantastic planted with hellebores, pulmonarias and tiarellas for a variation of form and colour.Epimedium 'Ellen Willmott' prefers moist, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. A hardy, evergreen perennial which reaches a height of 45cm, with a maximum spread of 90cm.
