Exceptionally generous plants, perennial wallflowers produce masses of strongly scented flowers for months on end, while asking very little in return. This woody stemmed, evergreen relative of the well-known spring bedding wallflower considered by many to be key 'workhorses' of the garden. Quick to establish and drought tolerant, simply pop in a sunny spot, and, after a little initial watering, leave alone to do their own, rather spectacular thing. Minimal pruning is required, other than a light haircut after flowering. Perfect for a rock garden, border, or container display. For a riotous show of colour, we have selected varieties in dark red, paprika-orange, mauve, and a dwarf variety in lemon yellow. Prefer poor to moderately fertile, well drained, neutral to alkaline soil in full sun. Erysimum are an excellent choice for chalky conditions. Hardy, evergreen perennials.
