A relative of Tulip ‘Shirley’ you can immediately see the family resemblance with the white flowers that are peppered with pink markings. The buds of ‘Hugs and Kisses’ emerge as green, then transform to pale yellow and shift to white with pink accents that intensify as the flower matures. Whilst it may appear delicate this is a sturdy tulip which reaches up to 40cm in height. Tulipa ‘Hugs and Kisses’ is a Triumph variety which flowers in April-May and is resilient enough to withstand the blustery showers which are prevalent at this time of year. Plant 15cm deep in late autumn in fertile, well-drained soil of any kind except heavy clay and position in full sun with any aspect other than north facing.
