An exciting native beauty which continues the current trend of planting more naturally within your managed garden spaces as well as in meadows and wildlife areas. Echium vulgare produces rosettes of glaucous, slender, bristly foliage from March to November. In late spring tall spikes, extending up to 75cm, burst with tissue-like petals in violet blue and pink tones, lasting through to late summer. These bicoloured beauties are open faced and readily accessible to pollinators who love the nectar from these rich, bell-shaped flowers. Ideal for wildlife gardens and equally at home in a rockery, container or herbaceous border. You can even cut some stems for a vase or bouquet. Echium vulgare is a naturalising native which is ideally suited to dry, sunny parts of the garden. It prefers a well-drained soil of any type and a spot in full sun of any aspect. A fully hardy, herbaceous biennial which will spread up to 50cm.
