Tell Me More...
For anyone in search of something a little different, we cannot recommend Echinacea purpurea ‘Green Jewel’ highly enough. Producing masses of huge, light green daisy-like flowers, this subtle yet intriguing perennial fits beautifully into practically any colour scheme. Petals have softly feathered ends, and the central cone of each flower is large and dark green. Hailing from dry prairies, gravelly hillsides, and open woodland in North America, echinacea has enjoyed huge popularity over recent years, owing largely to its ease of growth (sturdy stems require no staking), drought tolerance, and fashionable, naturalistic style. With impressively long-lived flowers, echinacea works well alongside other flowering perennials in a border, as well as among ornamental grasses. Much visited by pollinators. Excellent as a cut flower. Prefers deep, well-drained, humus-rich soil in full sun, though will tolerate some shade. H&S: 70cm x 50cm. Hardy perennial.
