Tell Me More...
This trio of alliums are certain to get noticed in the garden for their deep purple colouration, firework forms and mohawk style flowers. Alliums frequently appear in RHS show gardens and are a favourite of not only gardeners but butterflies and other pollinating insects too.Strong, graceful stems hold globe-like spheres which magically hover above the foliage and surrounding plants. Great for cutting in both fresh and dried arrangements, their architectural shapes add intriguing accents wherever they appear. There are 3 gorgeous varieties in this ensemble: Allium atropurpureum - a glorious dark purple allium with an extended vase life; Allium Schubertii with a veritable explosion of flower reaches up to 30cm wide; and Allium amethystinum 'Red Mohican' with a funky and fun-loving flower shape to delight and dazzle from May to June each year. All are hardy, bulbous perennials which prefer a moist, free-draining soil in full sun and reach heights of 75cm, 65cm and 1m respectively.
