Three months of sumptuous scent followed by golden, ornamental berries
Native to Tropical America this is a versatile, fast-growing shrub or small tree with shiny, rich green foliage which is held all year round. In June and August stunning clusters of purple-blue flowers emerge and cascade gracefully from Duranta repens’ branches. Flowers are attractive to butterflies and bees with a sweet, vanilla-like fragrance which will gently waft through the garden on warming summer breezes. As the flowers fade, highly ornamental orange-yellow berries are borne in draped bunches which, although poisonous to people and animals, are loved by hungry birds.
