Delightful new arrival – Alstroemeria Duchesse D'Anjou ‘Valentine’ boasts rich verdant foliage from March through to November each year. The sensational, speckled purple, white and golden yellow flowers emerge in June and, if regularly ‘pulled’, will last through to October time each year. Reaching a height of around 30-40cm and spread of 30-50cm, plants are ideal for a patio pot, balcony or even a sunny windowsill. Although they can still hold their own in larger spaces; edging a path, shining forth from the front of a border or lined up in larger, mixed containers.Stems of Alstroemeria Duchesse d'Anjou ‘Valentine’ are strong enough to hold their own in vases or floral arrangements too. A handy tip when using them as cut flowers is to pull stems from the base, rather than snipping them. The ‘wound’ which is left prompts the plant into producing even more stems, so more flowers. Alstroemeria Duchesse d'Anjou ‘Valentine’ likes a moist, well-drained soil of any kind. Unfussy on aspect, plant in full sun or partial shade for best results. A half-hardy, herbaceous perennial which needs a protective mulch over winter in areas where temperatures fall below freezing.
