Impressively, exotic-looking white blooms open in abundance from June to August. Plants add both curiosity and colour with their tropical flowers, similar to Oleander or Hibiscus. Dipladenia in fact belong to the Mandevilla clan, and are bushy, shrub-like plants with evergreen foliage and a moderately trailing habit. Mostly grown as a houseplant, this South African native expects a stability of temperature which falls no lower than 18 C. Dipladenia prefer to grow in a well-lit location with a minimum 6-8 hours of indirect sunlight per day. Plant in well-drained, loamy houseplant compost and make sure your containers have drainage holes at the base. Water freely when the soil is dry just below the surface and feed fortnightly with liquid fertiliser. Prune after flowering if needed. Dipladenia White will reach a mature height and spread 60cm x 60cm. As tropical tender perennials, Dipladenia have an RHS hardiness rating of H1a and is best as an intriguing house plant because it cannot withstand even the slightest hint of frost.
