A new perennial Foxglove, Digitalis purpurea 'Serendipity' is unusual, unique and less likely to self-seed than most other foxgloves. Orchid-like, pink-purple, tubular blooms with iconic speckled throats, cover the numerous flower spikes in summer. Split into four, the petals are delicate and wavy, creating a full frilly affect. Bumblebees and other garden pollinators will rejoice in the nectar-rich delights. Semi-evergreen rosettes of relatively delicate foliage flourish beneath. A unique flower shape for floral artists to add to arrangements, adding height and interest.Foxgloves have been a cottage garden favourite for generations and are now becoming popular in more modern planting schemes. In the language of flowers, Foxgloves represent price, intuition, creativity and energy. A biennial which prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Digitalis purpurea 'Serendipity' will reach a mature height of around 1.2m spreading to about 50cm. A fully hardy plant with an RHS hardiness rating of H7 and will not need any winter protection.
