Often thought of as a cottage garden plant, Digitalis purpurea 'Camelot Cream' also creates an impressive display in more modern planting schemes, or with grasses for a meadow feel. Many, creamy white, trumpet-shaped blooms are held all around the tall stems from June to August, rising high above the semi-evergreen foliage. Drawing bees and other pollinators into your garden for a sweet nectar-rich feast. Commonly known as Foxgloves – the name derives from a story about playful fairies wanting to help the wily foxes. They slipped a digitalis bloom over each of the fox’s paws to help him keep silent while he was hunting. In fact, if you look inside the blooms, you can even see the tiny marks said to be left by the fairies’ footprints. Being a woodland plant, Digitalis purpurea 'Camelot Cream' prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained soil in a partially sunny or partly shaded spot.
