Tell Me More...
The appearance of this fantastic flower is instantly recognisable as a foxglove. However, Digitalis ‘Lucas’ brings to you an exciting, long-flowering variety which holds its blooms from June to September. The ‘trade-off’ for this is that Digitalis ‘Lucas’ is sterile and does not produce any seed - putting its energy into beautiful, longer lasting flowers instead. The multiple, tall stems of Digitalis ‘Lucas’ are laden with stunning purple and pink blooms over neat clump-forming foliage. The speckled and spectacular tubular towers are truly a sight to behold – particularly when the flowers gently nod as bees and other pollinators visit for a feast! Digitalis are happy growing in borders and containers as well as making excellent cut flowers for a vase or an arrangement. A national favourite which is often seen in the wild, Digitalis ‘Lucas’ brings all of the beauty of the woodland plants for a much, much longer period. Plant Digitalis ‘Lucas’ in moist, well-drained soil of any kind and position in sun or partial shade. A hardy (H4), herbaceous biennial which reaches 90cm tall and spread to 45cm.
