Tell Me More...
A flurry of bright red-pink blooms blanket the compact, green foliage of Diascia barberae 'Breezee Red' for several months during the summer. Breezee have been specially bred to produce more flowers of a larger size than traditional varieties of Diascia, and are perfect for your beds, baskets and containers. Diascia barberae 'Breezee Red' is a relative of the foxglove and the snapdragon, with hundreds of small, trumpet-shaped blooms bubbling and bursting along the stems. These develop into frothing streams of flowers from May to October over compact, semi-evergreen mounds of foliage.Often known as Twinspur, because of the spurs on the back of the flowers, which contain a special oil collected by bees in its country of origin, South Africa, Diascia barberae 'Breezee Red' prefers to be grown in well-drained soil in sun or partial shade, reaching a mature height of 20cm, and spreading to 30cm. A half-hardy perennial which requires protection from frost if plants are to be retained for the following year.
