Tell Me More...
Dianthus ‘Scent First Sugar Plum’ creates gorgeous petals etched in colours of maroon, pink and white flowering from June through to September. Dianthus is a name derived from Dios-anthus - The Flower of the Gods; and Dianthus ‘Scent First Sugar Plum’ looks heavenly. As well as beautiful in the border, ‘Sugar Plum’ is excellent when cut into small fragrant posies. Laden with flowers, exquisitely fragrant and as lovely growing outside as in a vase. This is a striking dianthus which works hard and gives enormous pleasure both to the eyes and to the nose. The low, creeping, evergreen, silvery-green foliage creates wonderful weed-suppressing groundcover and is both slug and rabbit resistant, while the blooms are much loved by our pollinating friends - the bees and butterflies. As with most Dianthus, ‘Sugar Plum’ is drought tolerant and unfussy on soil conditions happily flourishing in a sunny position.
