Tell Me More...
An entertaining name for ‘a beautiful, big blousy dianthus’ which has bright and cheery blooms from May to July each year. Drawing its unforgettable name from the submarine ‘Boaty McBoatFace’ of 2016, this new dianthus endeavours to bring as much joy to the masses as the public vote did back then. Dianthus ‘Pinky McPink Face’ is perfect for adding interest to containers, borders and window boxes, these flowers also have an impressive vase life so make a beautiful inclusion in your home. Foliage is blue-green in tone and lasts all year, adding bushy mounds of weed-suppressing interest even when not in flower. Even better, when in bloom the distinctive, sweet clove-like fragrance is unmistakable and attractive to bees and butterflies as well as people. Oh, and don’t forget this will also perfume your home too – with the added benefit of promoting the production of more blooms on the plant. Dianthus ‘Pinky McPink Face’ prefers a spot in well-drained soil of any kind except acidic or heavy clay. Position in full sun with a south or east facing aspect for best results. A hardy (H4), evergreen perennial which may need additional winter protect in the colder areas of the UK. Matures to a height of 20cm with a spread of 15cm.
