An abundance of fine silvery purple spikelets sit aloft evergreen narrow leaves from June to August giving a hazy effect making Deschampsia cespitosa 'Palava' an eye-catching addition to your garden.Also known as known as Tufted Hair Grass, Deschampsia cespitosa 'Palava' is as hard working as it is hard wearing. Compact and clump forming and perfect for adding architecture to any garden, in borders or in pots and over time happily naturalising if left. Plant individually to make a statement or in groups to make a prairie style garden. Cut stems will also add a dramatic touch to flower arrangements.Growing to a mature height and spread of 60cm, Deschampsia cespitosa 'Palava' will thrive in full sun or dappled shade in neutral to acidic soil. Classed as a hardy perennial with an RHS rating of H6, additional winter protection will not be required. Low maintenance, just remove faded flower heads in winter and trim if necessary.
