Tell Me More...
Delphinium were once known for shades of blue, pink and white, the intensity of this newcomer offers you an exciting colour-breakthrough with deeper, richer tones to add to your planting. Boasting an intensity that is second to none, this beauty is highly unusual in the delphinium world. Delphinium x elatum 'Red Caroline' is sure to set your borders and containers alight with its large and luscious blooms. Bees, butterflies and other pollinators will be drawn to the slender towers as much as you and your other garden guests. Flowers are held from June to August above verdant mounds of foliage, which appears in March and remains though to October time. Furthermore, these opulent blooms are exquisite in floral arrangements and the colourful petals can even be dried for pot pourri or biodegradable confetti.Delphinium x elatum 'Red Caroline' prefers to be grown in well-drained soil with full sun or partial shade. Growing to a height of 90cm and spreading to 45-60cm, this herbaceous perennial is hardy enough to withstand winters throughout most of the UK. Plants will die back during the colder weather and then sprout again in spring.
