Tell Me More...
Whether you garden a neat small space or an ample country vista, delphiniums are a 'must have' archetypal plant to include, adding height, depth and architectural interest. Cultivated in all shapes and sizes, Delphinium elatum Paramo Purpura is most definitely the one to choose!Deeply coloured purple ruffled blooms appear from June to August above compact green foliage and hide an exquisite secret, a 'bee' which appears to have lemon and purple stripes! This fantastic feature will not only attract admiring glances from passers-by but will entice and excite the bees and butterflies to investigate further! Developed and bred to be free flowering for the floristry market, you will be able to take advantage of bundles of blooms to use in arrangements and vases. Feed regularly during the summer months to take advantage of this and of a further flush of flowers after the faded blooms are cut back.Delphinium elatum Paramo Purpura prefer planting in a sunny sheltered spot away from strong winds (stake if necessary) in fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Grows to a height of 90-150cm and a spread of 40-75cm. Hardy herbaceous perennial with an RHS rating of H5.
