Tell Me More...
Delosperma Jewel of the Desert Rose Quartz, with gentle lilac-pink blooms, the same colour as the stone, gives a feeling of feminine charm and elegance. Flowers cover the mats of evergreen, succulent blue-green foliage which carpet the soil, from spring to first frosts. Large 5cm, nectar-pollen-rich blooms, attract the bees and butterflies.Native to Southern and Eastern Africa, Delosperma are often seen growing on rocky mountainsides and along rocky coastal areas. Delosperma are also known as the Ice Plant, so called because of the tiny hairs on the surface of the leaves which play with the light, looking like they are sparkling. Tougher than they appear, Delosperma Jewel of the Desert Rose Quartz is deer resistant and easily copes with heat and drought, preferring to be grown in well-drained soil in sun or part shade, and resent the roots getting too wet. Reaching approximately 10-15cm high when mature, each spreading to around 25cm. As a fully hardy perennial, Rose Quartz will thrive outside all year round with no winter protection required.
