Three mouth-watering, eye-catching, glorious anemones to draw jealous glances from your neighbours in the early spring. Anemone blanda are jewels which enhance any garden, flowering from March to April each year. These bulbs quickly naturalise offering romantic drifts in intense colours of Blue, White and Violet. These are woodland anemones and so thrive under trees and shrubs, though still perform exceptionally well as a border plant. Pollinators love anemones and the flowers offer much needed sustenance at a sparser time of year. The delicate, ferny foliage will die back as flowers fade, so consider combining with later interest plants which can begin to take over at around this time.Plant in well-draining soil which benefits from full sun to partial shade. Hardy, bulbous perennials which reach a height and spread of 20cm. Wood anemones actually grow from knobbly tubers, which benefit from being soaked overnight in water before planting.
