Known as the ‘variegated winter daphne’, Daphne odora ‘Aureomarginata’ is a highly prized, compact and rounded evergreen shrub celebrated for its exquisite fragrance and year-round beauty. Boasting glossy dark green leaves, each edged with creamy-yellow margins, it adds elegance, colour and texture to the garden even in winter. In late winter to early spring, clusters of small, tubular, pinkish-purple flowers appear, filling the air with an intensely sweet scent that’s hard to rival. Growing to a height and spread of around 1.5 metres, ‘Aureomarginata’ thrives in sun or partial shade and prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Ideal for borders and containers, plant as a focal point near pathways where its scent can be fully appreciated. Though slow-growing the easy, low-maintenance nature makes it a favourite among gardeners. Hardy to around -10°C, (tolerant of light frosts), this shrub is perfect for brightening up the garden during the colder months with its striking foliage and heavenly scent.
