The cheerful, golden yellow flowers of Dahlia ‘Bishop of York’ contrast wonderfully with its dark, almost black foliage, putting on a striking and unmissable display. This impressive cultivar has an upright, strong growth habit, and bears flowers in profusion from July right through to November. With a long vase life ‘Bishop of York’ is also an excellent cut flower; in fact, the more flowers are picked, the more plants will produce. An invaluable source of mid to late season colour, often when many other plants are starting to look past their best. Suitable for borders and containers where the vibrant hues will shine across the summer and autumn garden. A great source of nectar and a magnet for pollinators. Dahlia ‘Bishop of York’ likes to be planted in fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil of any kind except chalk based. Position in full sun with a south or west facing aspect. H&S: 90cm x 50cm. A half-hardy (H3), tuberous perennial which is able to withstand temperatures down to -5°C providing it is not waterlogged. Tubers can be lifted and dry stored over colder winters for added protection.
