The rich, reflective scarlet flowers of Dahlia ‘Bishop of Llandaff’ appear in striking contrast with its deep, maroon-black foliage lending a ceremonial sense of elegance to the garden. Large, double petalled flowers (up to 10cm across) are held on thin, strong stems to illuminate borders and containers from July right through to as late as November. Ideal for cutting and with exceptional vase life, these plants require deadheading to ensure continual production and look sensational when planted ‘en masse’ for a sweeping wash of colour. Dahlia ‘Bishop of Llandaff’ is an invaluable source of mid to late season colour which offers displays when many other plants are starting to look past their best. Pollinators will also appreciate these late season lovelies for the beneficial nectar they provide. Dahlia ‘Bishop of Llandaff’ prefers a site which benefits from fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil of any kind and position in full sun with a south or west facing aspect. Plants reach an optimum height of 90cm with a spread of up to 50cm. A half-hardy (H3), tuberous perennial, able to withstand temperatures down to around -5°C without additional winter protection.
