The almost luminous, pea-like blooms of Cytisus x praecox 'Allgold' shine forth come rain or shine throughout March to May. Attractive to bees and other pollinators as well as people, these jolly jewels offer cheer to garden and collaborate beautifully with other spring blooms such as primroses, daffodils and tulips. This variety produces and abundance of blooms and plants have a dense, bushy habit, reaching a height and spread of up to 1.5m. Stems are long, arching and hold small, simple green leaves which serve as a wonderful contrast to the flowers and provide shrubby interest up to early autumn each year. The RHS has given Cytisus x praecox 'Allgold' their prestigious Award of Garden Merit for its outstanding performance and reliability in the garden.Plants prefer a well-drained, loam or sandy soil - so if you garden on heavier soils adjust the ground accordingly. Drought tolerant once established, 'Allgold' will thrive in rockeries as well as borders and likes a position with full sun and a south or west facing aspect.
