Tell Me More...
Cypripedium ‘Ulla Silkens’ is one of the tallest and most robust of all the hardy terrestrial orchids, tolerating heat and sun better than the others. Happy growing in both borders and containers, the beautiful blooms are produced during June and July. Boasting white upper petals with a colour-changing lower lip, the colder the temperature as the bud opens, means the darker colour pink it will open. When planted in borders and grassy areas, these extraordinarily hardy, low maintenance plants will naturalise, forming stunning informal drifts. Cypripedium ‘Ulla Silkins’ prefers to be grown in moist soil, even at the edge of a pond, in partial shade. The perfect, low-maintenance plant to delight amateur and professional gardeners alike. Reaching a height of up to 60cm, it spreads to 30cm. A fully hardy, herbaceous perennial to at least -20°C.
