Tell Me More...
Cyclamen coum blooms from late winter to early spring and should not be confused with its autumn flowering relatives. Its dainty, white to pink, butterfly-shaped blooms are invaluable for brightening the garden 'off season'. Matching flowers for aesthetic appeal are the leaves; dark green, heart-shaped, and often marbled in silver for intriguing and decorative effect from December right through to April. This delicate-looking perennial is tougher than it seems and is ideal for naturalising beneath deciduous trees and shrubs - conditions perfectly matching a preference for moist winters and dry summers. Cyclamen coum are also well suited to the front of a border, rockery or container. A tendency to self-sow means they will gradually form eye-catching drifts, with their long-lived nature meaning they will be lifting winter spirits for many decades to come. Prefers moderately fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil in partial shade. Reaches a height and spread of 10cm. Hardy, cormous perennial.
