Tell Me More...
A low growing, bushy shrub Cuphea Ilavea is native to Central America and Mexico where it grows as an evergreen perennial. In the UK it is mostly grown as an annual due to its tender nature. Flowers are produced throughout the summer and early autumn and delightfully resemble the heads of tiny mice with purple faces and large, bright red ears. The flowers are highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other nectar loving pollinators so are ideal for a wildlife friendly plot. Cuphea as make an unusual and exciting addition to baskets, and their neatly cascading habit will enliven your borders too. Prefers a sunny spot with moist, well-draining soil. H&S: 30cm.
