Tell Me More...
Gloriously golden, Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora 'Columbus', also known commonly as Montbretia, makes a head-turning impact in borders and containers. Golden buds with red-purple markings are held on strong wiry stems. Each opens to reveal an orange-yellow flower with 6 intriguing markings in the throat. Held in attractive sprays, from summer into autumn, they make a vibrant and long-lasting addition to indoor arrangements and vases. Attractive, narrow, sword-shaped foliage is both deer and rabbit resistant, and sways in the breeze introducing grass-like movement into your garden. Happy grown in coastal areas and drought tolerant once established. Easy to grow, preferring fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny or partially shaded position, Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora 'Columbus' will reach a height of around 60-80cm, creating clumps of up to 45cm wide which can be divided. A hardy bulbous perennial which becomes dormant over winter ready to sprout again with renewed vigour in the spring.
