Tell Me More...
An exciting new addition to our range which provides berries in autumn for inclusion in our much-loved cranberry sauce alongside an ingredient for cakes, biscuits and any number of other delights. Vaccinium macrocarpon is a low growing, trailing or creeping shrub which provides decorative groundcover and will also thrive in containers or at pond edges.Flowers are produced from May to June above glossy, leathery leaves and are pretty, dainty blooms with reflexed petals held on pink stems. As with many fruiting berries, the flowers are a great draw for pollinators and other wildlife. Berries can be picked and frozen to preserve nutrient content if not needed immediately or left on the plant for decorative impact.Vaccinium macrocarpon likes a moist, well-drained, loam-based soil in full sun or part shade. Likes to be planted in a growing medium with an acidic pH value. A hardy, fruiting perennial shrub which reaches a height of 15cm and spreads to 60cm or more.
