Long-flowering dainty blue blooms with sweet perfume
New arrival for 2024. Corydalis ‘Tory M.P.’ is said to be comedically named such as its flowers ‘tend to go on a bit’ and are ‘true-blue’ in colour. Whilst we cannot vouch for authenticity of this – we can certainly admire the intensity and generosity of these blooms. Flowers emerge in May then recede in the heat of summer, returning again in autumn if well-established in a beneficial environment. Blooms are held on strong, slender red stems and make an eye-catching inclusion in a vase as well as rockeries, borders or containers. As a pollinator friendly plant, Corydalis ‘Tory M.P.’ is also perfect for wildlife friendly gardens where mounds of semi-evergreen, ferny foliage will offer valuable protection as well as weed-suppressing groundcover. The perfume from these elongated, tubular blooms is likened to sweetly fragrant lilacs – so strategic positioning is recommended to make the most of the scent as it drifts across the garden.
