One of the most long-lasting and abundantly flowering beauties for your summer and autumn garden, Coreopsis grandiflora ‘Solar Moon’ is a must have for all gardens. Tidy, densely leaved tufts of lush green foliage become almost covered with single daisy-like blooms from June to October. The pale-yellow petals are accentuated by a central maroon blotch, further adding to the appeal. Happy in both borders and containers, it is tolerant of drought, heat and humidity and once established requires very little care. A cousin of the common wildflower ‘Large Flowered Tickseed’, the sterile flowers will not set seed and spread, but each plant will gently naturalise so florists will have even more stems to cut and include in their stunning indoor floral creations. Rating H6 on the RHS scale, down to -20°C, Coreopsis grandiflora ‘Solar Moon’ will give you years of enjoyment with no additional winter attention required. An herbaceous perennial, dying back over winter, ready to sprout with renewed vigour in spring. Prefers to be planted in a sunny spot in well-drained soil which is loam or sand based, it will grow to 30-50cm tall and spread 30-45cm.
