Tell Me More...
Shining out brightly from your borders and containers, Coreopsis grandiflora 'Solar Jewel' really is a sight to behold throughout summer and into autumn. A modern relative of the wildflower known as 'Large Flowered Tickseed'; she will bloom her heart out from June to October. Each nectar-rich, bright red bloom opens from button-like buds to display vibrant yellow-orange margins which encourages bees and other friendly pollinators to come closer for a feast. Excellent as cut flowers, lasting well in a vase, the blooms add vibrancy to your indoor arrangements.Hardy to around -20 C, rating H6 on the RHS scale, Coreopsis 'Solar Jewel' does not require any attention over winter, becoming dormant ready to produce fresh new foliage in spring. Drought tolerant and happiest grown in well-drained soil in a sunny spot, where it will grow to a mature height of 30-50cm, spreading 30-45cm.
