Tell Me More...
A debutante sure to become a bright star A new introduction by renown breeder Marco van Noort, the series is named Solar because the flowers shine out, like hundreds of suns bringing warmth and colour, to brighten your garden in summer and autumn. Commanding attention, the profusion of daisy-like blooms with vivid yellow-orange petals which surround a red heart, almost cover the neat mounds of green foliage from June to October. Well suited to both modern planting schemes and cottage style gardens, friendly pollinators will visit for a viewing. A cousin of the common wildflower Large Flowered Tickseed, each plant will gently naturalise so florists will have even more stems to cut and include in their stunning indoor floral creations. Rating H6 on the RHS scale, down to -20C, Coreopsis grandiflora Solar Mellow will give you years of enjoyment with no winter attention required. An herbaceous perennial, dying back over winter, ready to sprout with renewed vigour in spring. Tolerant of drought, heat, and humidity, preferring to be planted in a sunny spot in well-drained soil, it will grow to 30-50cm tall and spread 30-45cm.
