Coprosma repens ‘Pina Colada’ is a bushy evergreen shrub with glossy, semi- evergreen leaves. The colour of the leaves are the appeal for growing this variety. Each leaf has variegated green and yellow foliage, with tinted red edges developing in colder weather, creating year-round interest. In addition, ‘Pina Colada’ produces small, green flowers in spring, which are insignificant in comparison to the showy foliage. Coprosma is a relative of the coffee plant and originates from New Zealand and Tasmania. Plants are primarily planted for their beautiful, glossy, evergreen foliage in stunning colour combinations. Known also as the Looking Glass Plant, because you can almost see your reflection in the glossy foliage. Coprosma repens ‘Pina Colada’ is a mid-sized variety reaching a mature height and spread of 1-1.5m, making it suitable for borders and containers. Plants are robust enough for coastal areas and adapt to exposed sites. A half-hardy perennial which may require frost protection in colder parts of the UK - plant in containers for ease of re-location over winter if this is the case. Prefers moist, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade with a south or west facing aspect.
