A trio of crocus which bloom over two seasons for extended interest. Compelling Crocus Collection contains the valuable saffron crocus - sativus - for exemplary culinary use, as well as garden splendour. This is the world's most expensive spice and an exciting variety which blooms from October to November each year. The stamen should be handpicked and dried for use in the kitchen. Two spring flowering varieties accompany 'sativus'. These are exciting and unusual blooms with golden petals, intricately striated with darker brown markings, newcomer 'Golden Yellow' is evendependable and striking enough to hold the RHS Award of Garden Merit. All are perfect for pots, rockeries and open ground where they will act as a draw for pollinators and become a valuable source of nectar as well as a beautiful inclusion in a posy vase. Bulbs should be planted in autumn and prefer well-drained soil in full sun. All three varieties in the Compelling Crocus Collection are hardy, bulbous perennials which will naturalise in the right conditions and look wonderful as drifts alongside.
