Part of the Regal Double series, bred to produce an abundance of large, double flowers over a long period, Clematis Regal Double 'Josephine' bears mauve-pink blooms from late spring right through until early autumn. Flowers consist of a saucer-shaped layer of broad sepals with a tightly closed central bud and are distinctly pompom-like in appearance. This slowly opens over the course of a few weeks, until the two layers blend together to create a spectacular, large, fully double bloom. Flowers continue to be produced freely throughout the season, putting on an impressive display. 'Josephine' is a vigorous climber, perfect for wall supports, pergolas and obelisks. Clematis Regal Double 'Josephine' in a Group 2 clematis that should be pruned around February each year. Prefers fertile, moist, well-drained soil in full sun, ideally with its roots and base in shade (this can be achieved by using other plants, or a pebble mulch). H&S: 2.5m x 1.5m. Hardy, deciduous perennial.
