Chionodoxa luciliae Alba is a cheery, petite, little star for your spring garden. Creating a sparkling carpet of crisp white blooms and happy to grow most places in your garden, Chionodoxa are beguiling, easy grow plants and are a welcome addition in any planting scheme.Originating in the mountainous areas of Eastern Europe, Chiondoxa have the common name, Glory of the Snow, from the Greek Chion meaning snow and doxa meaning glory. Probably named Glory of the Snow because they flower so early often to be seen poking their blooms through the snow. Extremely hardy, Chionodoxa luciliae 'Alba', given its original habitat, is excellent for rockeries where it naturalises well.Chionodoxa luciliae Alba is a popular choice for naturalising in lawns and under trees as they flower before the leaves appear in spring. When planted in quantities, the flowers make a glittering blanket. Being fully hardy Chionodoxa require no protection over winter.
