Delightful new arrivals for 2024 – these are daintier than the long-established types of alstroemeria yet have all the colour and pattern of their taller cousins. ‘Cherished Alstroemeria Pitchounes Collection’ will only reach around 30cm in height and spread – ideal if your garden is a sunny windowsill, balcony or courtyard yet still dramatic enough for the front of an herbaceous border or a larger planted container.
Flowering continually from June through to October, remember to deadhead the blooms as they fade. A handy tip when using them as cut flowers is to ‘pull’ stems from the base, rather than cutting them. The ‘wound’ which is left prompts the plant into producing even more stems, so more flowers. Your collection is made up of ‘Charlotte’; ‘Lucas’ and ‘Noah’.
Preferring moist, well-drained soil of any kind, Alstroemeria are unfussy on aspect, plant in full sun or partial shade for best results. Half-hardy, herbaceous perennials which will need a protective mulch over winter in areas where temperatures fall below freezing.
