Cestrum noctornum is a highly fragrant, exotic looking plant which is sure to add a tropical touch to your summer garden. Known as Night-blooming jasmine, this is a fast-growing woody shrub, originating from the West Indies - though it is not a true jasmine. The common name is derived from the greenish-white flowers which produces a highly jasmine-like scent after the sun goes down. This attracts the late evening butterflies and other pollinators who are drawn to the wonderful perfum. Cestrum nocturnum has an extended flowering period. Evergreen foliage is adorned by the clusters of starry, tubular blooms from May to November, much to the delight of the aforementioned butterflies. Small berries follow the blooms. Slender and erect, this beautiful and unique plant will provide your garden with structure and form. Can be grown as a conservatory plant in the coldest winter temperatures, where it will flower all year round. Prefers well-drained soil in sun or part shade.
