Pleione

History and Origin:

Pleione is a small genus of around just 20 species of terrestrial orchids and are native to Asia. They are named after Pleione, a water nymph from Greek mythology. Pleione are more commonly known as peacock orchid, glory of the east, Himalayan Crocus, Indian Crocus or windowsill orchid.

About:

Pleione are deciduous orchids with sword-shaped leaves and solitary flowers that bloom in spring. They are well suited to being planted in pots and containers.
