Hoheria are a genus of plants within the Malvaceae family, native to New Zealand. The generic name is Latin for the Maori name ‘houhere’. The genus was first introduced by A Cunningham in 1839.
Hoheria are evergreen or deciduous shrubs or small trees with modest, lance-shaped foliage and gorgeous clusters of fragrant white flowers with prominent stamens. They are best suited to flower beds or borders within a cottage, courtyard or informal garden. You can expect to see Hoheria grow to an approximate height and spread of 1.5-2.5m (5-8’).
