Hemerocallis are a genus of flowering plants within the Asphodelaceae family, native to many parts of Asia including Japan, Korea and China. They are often referred to as the ‘Daylily’. The name is derived from the Greek word ‘hemera’, meaning day, and ‘kalos’, meaning beautiful.
About: Hemerocallis are evergreen or herbaceous perennials with slender strap-shaped leaves and distinctive trumpet-shaped blooms that flower in late spring or early summer. Hemerocallis are best suited to flower beds and borders within city, courtyard and informal gardens. You should expect them to grow to a height of 1m (40”) and a spread of 50cm (20”).
