History and Origin:

Croton is the common name for the genus Codiaeum within the family Euphorbiaceae. They are native to Asia, Australia and Papausia in scrubland and open forests.

Codiaeum are tropical, evergreen shrubs with leathery leaves and sprays of small white or yellow flowers that bloom in summer. Here in the UK they are often grown as houseplants as they are not hardy and are available in many different unusual colours, perfect for decorating inside the home.
