Chlidanthus are a genus within the Amaryllidaceae family, native to south America where most species originate from the Andes mountains. This was where the genus was first documented by William Herbert, an English botanist and poet during the 1820s where he discovered the species known as Chlidanthus fragrans.
Childanthus are huge spherical bulbs that produce funnel-shaped and often fragrant blooms and impressive strap-shaped foliage during late summer.
