Perfect pink panicles for a late summer sensationCaryopteris clandonensis 'Pink Perfection' is a relatively new and unusual addition to the family which is invaluable for providing late season colour. With a compact, upright habit the bushy, grey-green aromatic foliage becomes smothered with dark pink buds in early summer - each one opening to reveal pretty, light pink blooms from July to October. Much loved by bees and other pollinators, the scented blooms will entice them closer.Caryopteris are native to the Far East, though the name stems from the Greek words 'karyon' meaning nut and 'pteron' meaning wing, relating to the shape of the blooms. Known more commonly as Bluebeard, referring to the more common blue flowered varieties.Equally happy to be grown in containers or in the ground, preferring a sunny position it will reach a mature height of 50-100cm, spreading to around 75cm. A deciduous shrub which will lose its foliage over winter and sprout again in the spring, Caryopteris clandonensis 'Pink Perfection' is hardy to -10 C, (RHS H4) and virtually pest free and deer resistant.
