Producing oodles of miniature double blooms, Calibrachoa ‘Calita Double Cherry’ will cascade and trail from pots and baskets from June to October. ‘Calita’ is a relatively new variety of calibrachoa with built in resilience to wind and rain as well as a beneficial, ‘self-cleaning’ habit. This means spent blooms will drop to the ground without the need for continual deadheading, after which they can be swept away and disposed of. Reaching a height and spread of about 30cm, and gently trailing to around 30-40cm, Calibrachoa ‘Calita Double Cherry’ prefers to be grown in moist, well-draining loam or sand-based soil in a sunny position, with a south or west facing aspect. A tender perennial which is usually treated as a summer bedding annual in the UK, container grown plants can actually be overwintered in a warm, frost-free environment such as a conservatory or greenhouse, to be enjoyed in subsequent years.
