Tell Me More...
An exciting development for the buddleja world with this weeping variety that adds oodles of decorous, scented blooms to your garden from June to September. Plant in borders, containers and as a focal point to the end of a pathway or viewpoint. Buddleja alternifolia is sure to stand out with its pendulous, sweetly scented lilac-purple flowers held in clusters on the previous year’s growth. Each flower has a poised orange eye to its centre – which acts as a beacon to guide in the bees and butterflies who adore this nectar-rich shrub. Native to China and Tibet. Versatile enough to be trained as a tree or left to its own devices as a weeping bush, simply prune to shape after flowering. Plant Buddleja alternifolia in any moist, well-drained soil. Position in full sun or partial shade with any aspect other than north facing. A fully hardy, deciduous shrub which matures to a height and spread of around 3m after 10-20 years.
